Masjid Ayesha Tottenham and ICC appeal for volunteers

The new building of Masjid Ayesha Tottenham and Islamic Community Centre needs volunteers to maintain it, organise events and help with fundraising. Poeple with specialist skills who can help the mosque and ICC in any way are also needed. One can volunteer to give at least one hour per week or occasionally. Please email Areeb Ullah (areeb.ullah@gmail.com) with your availability and how you can help. You may also ring the mosque on 020 8809 2137 if you are interested to volunteer.

Donate 30p a day to Masjid Ayesha Tottenham

At the community opening on Sunday 14 November, a standing order appeal was launched to ask people to donate £9 a month towards running costs of the new mosque building. A new, larger building means that revenue costs such as utility bills and maintenance costs would increase as well. The community has to come forward and share in the costs of the mosque's upkeep. £9 is a small sum of money and only amounts to 30p a day which most people can afford. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that the best act of worship is the one that is done regularly even if it is small. Standing order forms are available to pick up from the mosque's office or can be set up online. Please call 020 8809 2137 for further information.

Masjid Ayesha Tottenham's new building opens to the community

On Sunday 14 November 2010, Masjid Ayesha Tottenham's new building opened to the local Muslim community. Muhtaram Moulana Abdul Awwal, a renowned scholar and former chair of East London Mosque announced the iftitah (opening) of the mosque's new building. He said that the mosque is not just a place of worship, but it is the hub of the Muslim community. In the time of prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the mosque served the purposes of a meeting place, a community hall, a court of justice and the centre of the community as a whole. The ground floor of the new mosque building is complete and open for daily prayers, but the upstairs hall, youth centre, kitchen, office rooms and other works remain incomplete. The mosque needs another £300,000 to complete this work.
